The Phoenix Literary Magazine
The Phoenix literary magazine, a student-run magazine at Baylor University, has been a forum for students to publish their literary and artistic work for over 65 years. Each year, the magazine publishes a variety of original, unpublished pieces produced by undergraduate students at Baylor, including (but not necessarily limited to) poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, drawings, paintings, photography, lithography, music scores, and original compositions.
Submissions are reviewed by an editorial panel of students, and every piece receives detailed consideration, whether or not it is accepted for publication. The Phoenix also awards a "Top Submission" in each of three categories: poetry, prose, and visual art. They are voted on by the editorial panel and chosen by an outside judge.
Submissions
Any Baylor undergraduate student may apply to be on the editorial board or submit manuscripts for publication. The editors of The Phoenix gain valuable publishing experience by editing the pieces and deciding which will be accepted by the magazine.
Submissions are currently accepted via Google Form in the categories of poetry, prose, screenwriting, visual art, and music. The best way to find the form and up-to-date submission information is via The Phoenix’s Instagram. For any questions about submissions, please contact thephoenixlitmag@gmail.com.
